The Alameda Council of the Navy League supports local Coast Guard, Navy, and Marine Corps commands and sponsors Naval Sea Cadet Corps and Navy League Cadet Corps units. It also partners with the Alameda Naval Air Museum and the East Bay Coast Guard Spouses Club. The national Navy League itself dates to 1902, founded with President Theodore Roosevelt's encouragement as a civilian organization backing the sea services.
